RIZOMI is a newly established gallery in the city of Turin, Italy. It will open to the public in the fall of 2010. Its purpose is twofold: it aims at bringing outsider art, self-taught art and art brut to fine art collectors and contemporary art enthusiasts in Italy by presenting works of a number of acclaimed Italian as well as international artists; it is further committed to working so that outsider art may be acknowledged in Italy as legitimate art by decoupling it from psychiatric, therapeutic and segregation arguments that still blur its status in the country. The gallery is meant to be both a cultural institution as well as a commercial enterprise, as it intends to stimulate serious debate on outsider art. RIZOMI will work to become a privileged partner to all those looking to Italy as a source of talents and a growing market.
